Solution: Divide the case cost of $36.00 by the number 6 which represents the number of whole pizzas in the case. The cost per unit is $6.00.

$36.00 ÷ 6 = $6.00

               

 Assume the school cuts each pizza into 8 portions. 

What is the portion cost of the pizza? ________________

Solution: Divide the unit cost $6.00 by the 8 portions in the pizza for a portion cost of $0.75.

                          $6.00 ÷ 8 = $0.75
