Rosa parks was a well respected black woman and secretary for the NAACP.
Rosa parks boarded a bus after work. She sat in the 11th row and refused to give up her seat when a white man boarded the bus and needed a seat. She refused because she was tired from working all day and was arrested. A bus boycott was organized for the morning of the trial. 17,000 African Americans did not ride the bus in protest of the discrimination. The bus boycott lasted for a year, until the Supreme court ruled that the segregated busses were unconstitutional.
